Why Creating Content Is the Ultimate Self-Help Hack
If had to pick my top 3 habits for anyone to do, one of them would be creating content — on a blog, YouTube channel, Twitter, etc. Here is why.

I.
Most people struggle with clarity. They don't know what to do with their lives.
Regularly creating content will fix that.
By creating content, you are forced to think about your values and the topics most dear to you. And the more you talk about these values and topics, the more you explain them to yourself. In the end, you will have extraordinarily more clarity about who you are and want to become.
To be clear — this is not a quick fix. We are talking months and years. Also, most people's tendency to hide behind a curated mask online will slow down the process further.
But keep at it for long enough, and these masks will fall by the wayside. The true you will emerge.
II.
Most people struggle with ego. I am no exception. I want to be seen as confident, pretty, and smart. I want to be constantly validated.
Obviously, that is not a good thing. It is giving into our infantile tendencies.
But create enough content online, and you will at least be partially healed of this narcissistic behavior. Strangers online will call out your delusions. That is because they are "safe" — they are not in the same room with you. Calling out your delusions doesn't have any negative consequences for them.
Of course, not every criticism is fully justified. There are a lot of angry people online. Still, even they have something to offer. If you can filter their feedback for the justified parts, you will grow.
III.
Maybe the best reason to create content online — it will help you find your tribe.
Think about the pre-digital age for a second. To find friends or lovers, you were limited to the city you lived in. Where you spend your time was where you met your people.
But that's a small pond, especially for people not living in a metropolis like NYC or LA. You had to make do with whoever happened to be there.
Now, in the digital age, this has fundamentally changed. If you are willing to put yourself out there, you can now be found by anyone. And if you dare to show yourself as you are, you will be found by exactly the right people — the people who think and feel like you.
I can tell you from experience — when this happens, it is one of the best things in the world.
Go and create some content.
Of course, there are also potential monetary rewards. If you produce enough content for long enough, you will be able to monetize that. And that is great. But I think the reasons I gave above are even better. Anyone who wants to grow personally should produce. Okay, sermon over.
Until next week,
Niels
